Hands up who like Indian food? I had to stop typing there whilst I put both my hands up. In the air (and wave-like you just don’t care) Sorry I could not resist adding the song lyrics on the end there

Normally we would be grabbing for the take-out menu to get an Indian, but before you do take a look at the three healthy Indian food recipes below.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Up to 1/8 cup water
  • Salt to season
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional)

Healthy Chicken Korma

Ingredients

  • 6-8 tbsp natural yogurt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of saffron threads
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds, ground
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds, ground
  • 3cm fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 4 skinless free-range chicken breast cubed
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 onion very finely chopped or grated
  • 2–3 tbsp ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp ground coconut
  • 1 tbsp flaked toasted almonds
  • large pinch fresh coriander, chopped

  • 1 cup rice I preferred basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 whole dried red chili
  • 1inch piece of cinnamon stick
  • 2 cardamoms crushed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons ghee clarified butter for garnishing
